our experience teaching
alejandra's experience
My experience teaching junior high school students was merely extraordinary. During my practices, I could understand the real meaning of momentum, space, class management, discipline and several other teaching parameters; and I also discovered my strength and an area I need to improve.
I think my strength is my persistence because when students do not understand, I can explain to them a hundred of times using many different strategies until I find the one that best suits my students' needs. I think my persistence helped me find the correct method to teach my students.
I will address the area I need to improve by making reflective teaching on the class in which I found my weakness.
That was the third time I was going to teach that class; when I arrived at the classroom, I noticed 5 of my students were not in my class. I first thought they did not go to classes that day, but then I realized they were outside and did not want to go to my class.
Perhaps my students did not want to go to my class because my classes were boring. Perhaps my students did not like English. Perhaps I did not explain the topics well and my students did not understand.
I think it is important to ask students for feedback so that I become aware of the things my students think about my classes.
Next time I will ask my students why they did not go to my classes. I will make changes if they tell me that they do not understand my lessons or that my classes are boring. If they tell me they do not like English, I will use different activities and strategies in order to interest my students in learning English.

gerardo's experience
Teaching to teenagers was an experience I thought I was not ready to do; indeed, I was not ready! Fortunately, God's hand was there all the time I did my practicums and I could finish them with a big smile and proud because of the worked I successfuly finished.
I think that tolerance is my best strength in teaching because there were some situations where some students did not clearly understand the lesson I was teaching, and some of them were just not paying attention. Even so, my tolerance really helped me face such situations and I know if something goes wrong in my classes, tolerance can be a good tool.
On the other hand, not everything was good all the time. Therefore, I will mention an area that I consider I need to improve to avoid a problem in the future.
One day, I was teaching the Third Person Singular to my students and all of them were paying attention to my lesson, except one girl. What I could noticed is that she was distracted because she was talking by cell phone, and some students were distracting because of her.
Perhaps she was not interested in listening to the new lesson I was teaching. Perhaps she was making an emergency call. Perhaps my class was getting boring.
I think that is important to keep every student's attention during the lesson in order to make my students acquire new knowledge every class.
Next time, I will tell my student to raise her hand and ask me if she can go outside and answer the call so that the momentum in the classroom is not broken again.

Jessica's experience
Teaching in junior high school was a really great and amazing experience!
I can say that I learned a lot from my students and they learn, also, from me. Not all the time was a bed of roses in my classes but I didn't regret anything on what I did.
Additionally, Not only did I live good moments with my student but also I faced bad things during some classes. First, let me mention some good things that took place in my teaching practice.
My students were patient with me and they helped me all the time with tasking on. They were good workers in their activities I assigned them every time, and they also liked to participate without being asked. That really made me feel happy with an active participation because I could realize that they really wanted to learn English doing the things by themselves, though not all students were like that, most of them did it all the time.
On the other hand, I will describe some problems I had all the time while I was teaching.
My first day of class was a totally disaster. I just went to teach at the school improvising myself in everything because my tutor, the responsible of that subject, told me she would send me the topic and the information I would use that day but nothing occurred during the whole weekend.
Later on, I thought she was going to give me the book in order to prepare my lesson plan for the next class but she gave me a lot of excuses and she promised me to send me this time what I will go teach. The same history took place again.
Next time, I got angry. I admonished her to give me that book in order to photocopy it and prepare me for the next class. Finally, she obeyed me and she gave me the book; suddenly, I could improve the rest of my classes.
I consider that teachers must be careful and responsible on what they are doing; for that reason, I did my best though my tutor made my things more complicated, and I can say, to conclude, I am not perfect and I have to reflect on those things that make me go back from the process of learning.
